#iCoachBjörn

is an initiative brought about to inspire young people to follow their dreams.

As an NGO, Hilltop Legacy partners with corporations, schools, communities
and individuals to raise leaders, strive for quality education and inspire hope with an overarching emphasis on spiritual values.

#DoForOneWhatYouWouldLikeToDoForAll

Born to an alcoholic mother and a drug addict father, Alexander had a childhood filled with many challenges. He found escape in running and cross-country events and got his first big break when he met Theo Fourie, CEO of an American company, Attachmate, that sponsored his three-year course in Sports Management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. In addition to this, Alexander undertakes national motivational speaking visits at schools to instill hope in the lives of young people.

Alexander ran the Berlin Marathon in September 2016 to create awareness and raise funds for the I Coach Björn initiative.
Next, he'll be doing the Paris Marathon on 9 April 2017 and YOU ARE INVITED to join his team.
“Partnering with corporations, communities and individuals, the I COACH BJöRN initiative was started to bring hope and change to a very broken world.”
A strong support network played a major role in Alexander's training, which led to him being selected for the South African team that participated in the World Duathlon Championships in Canada in 2006. He now works at Hilltop Legacy and coaches children in running and cross-country. Like him, they come from difficult backgrounds. He also uses this platform to mentor his charges and teach them about leadership skills and personal development.

The Benefits

We have found that many young people live in unfair circumstances where their identity is formed by unhealthy messages. We aim to help people change their perspective and understand their unique value and role in society. In doing so, we hope to see families grow stronger, which will lead to stronger communities and a stronger nation. “If not us, then who? If not now, then when?”

Get Involved

Alexander believes the I Coach Björn initiative that was established at Groenheuwel Primary School in 2014 can form the basis for a nationwide initiative to combat the myriad issues and challenges faced by many people.

Making a meaningful change
requires more than a marathon by one man.
It needs a marathon effort by a community that cares.
